Here's some expert
advice!
Marilyn from Long
Beach asks... If
your teeth are
healthy, but have
moved out of
alignment a bit,
would veneers be a
good way to make the
teeth look better ?
Are the teeth filed
down for veneers ?
This is a great
question that many
people have. If a
person has healthy
teeth which have
moved out of
alignment, before
placing veneers,
they should consider
moving the teeth
back into their best
position. A great
form of treatment is
INVISALIGN. This is
a clear way to move
teeth - no wires or
metal. It also
allows a person to
keep their own
natural teeth. It
moves teeth with a
series of clear
shells that are worn
every day and are
changed every 2
weeks. The duration
of treatment is
based on the
individuals' needs.
If
a person wants to
change many facets
of their teeth (the
shape, the color) as
well as their
position, then
veneers would be a
great way to satisfy
all of those needs.
The teeth are
prepared (shaped)
conservatively to
receive thin
porcelain facings
(veneers), an
impression of the
shaped teeth is sent
to a dental
laboratory, and
temporary veneers
are placed on the
teeth. The veneers
are made usually
within 2 weeks time,
then they are
permanently bonded
to the persons'
teeth.
Both options give
you a beautiful,
healthy smile!
