about the September 11 attacks

Lives were lost. People representing all walks of life were taken cruelly, and all too quickly, from their friends, families and neighbors. America felt the loss…New York felt the loss…and Long Island felt the loss.

My thoughts and prayers on this 8th anniversary are for all the families, Firefighters and those who were working in the Twin Towers, such a day like this should have never happened but it did and we as a country need to pull together and continue to stand on the Freedom we have been given, "In God We Trust". This is what our country was founded on and we should continue to be founded on God.  Some may not agree, but I believe and pray that those who stand with me will continue to pray for that.  My heart goes out to all those who lost a loved one, I myself knew someone that did, and "WE WILL NEVER FORGET"  God Bless everyone and thank you for allowing me to share.
- Catherine A. Thornton

Like other events in history we will all remember where we were that day when this terrible event took place. My thoughts and prayers are with the victims as well as their families as they morn their terrible loss. May God keep them in his loving embrace and help the people who were left behind to find comfort in their loss.
Jo-Ann Sarro

I do not think anyone that lives in this country will ever forget 9/11. All my prayers go out to the people who perished that day and to the families they left behind. My neighbor was working in the towers that day and thank God he made it, but it was the waiting (6 hours) to see if he survived that tore up that family that day. I know I could not even bring myself to go across the street until his father came out and said they got a phone call from him and he was alright. I know other people that day did not get good news about their loved ones, and my heart goes out to them. I would also like to thank all our service men fighting for our freedom and God Bless all who have died for our freedom.

Although I don’t live in Long Island anymore I will always be a New Yorker and my eyes still get very watery thinking about those people who lost their lives.  I will always remember where I was (working in Brentwood Schools) and how crazy everyone acted…My heart and sentiments go out to all who lost loved ones on that fatal day…I will never forget and someday I will talk to my boys about this painful piece of our history…Dianna

My thought are with the heroes of United Airlines Flight 93, who stormed the cockpit and caused the plane to crash into an abandoned minefield in Shanksville PA, killing everyone on board. This is the only plane that didn't make it's target and as a result, nobody died on the ground. I can't wait for the unveiling of the permanent memorial there.
David Kaplan

I can't believe ... not one completed memorial at the site where the public can fully view. Plus, it still hurts every year to this day.

My thoughts and prayers are with the families who lost a loved one on that terrible day. I feel  I must go to mass today to pray for all those soles it gives me comfort. God Bless the U.S.

My heart goes out to all the families of the victims of 9/11. I was suppose to be in the city on that day. I was due to report to 140 West Street, which is a Verizon building. I switched with one of my co-workers and she was there instead of me. She was not hurt, but it was a very long day for her and she was a older lady. She has never been the same. Sometimes, I feel guilty that she had to experience this. My prayers for everyone. Even if you don't know any of the victims, it is a day that I feel effects everyone.
GOD BLESS EVERYONE
- Diana

MY PRAYERS, MY THOUGHTS ARE WITH THE FAMILIES THAT HAVE LOST THEIR LOVED ONES IN THIS TRAGEDY…MY DAUGHTERS WORKED IN THE CITY THAT DAY AND MY OLDER DAUGHTER WAS RIGHT THERE IN THE MIDST OF IT BUT WITH THE HELP OF GOD SHE WAS UNTOUCHED PHYSICALLY, AS FAR AS MENTALLY IT WILL GO WITH HER IN WHATEVER SHE DOES…SO AGAIN MY PRAYERS ARE WITH ALL THOSE FAMILIES WHO LOST SOMEONE. AND MOST OF ALL MY PRAYERS ARE WITH THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES MAY THEIR SPIRIT LIVE ON.
